Architecture of the Present is a conversation between architects John Wardle and Matthew Bird that takes as its starting point the concept of architecture as a choreographer of experience. The exploration of this topic happens in relation to the concurrent Samstag Museum of Art 2020 Adelaide//International exhibitions for the Adelaide Festival.
Opening in March 2020 as part of the Adelaide Festival, the Samstag Museum is presenting five discrete exhibitions that look at the way that built forms can make us aware of the social, spatial and temporal present.
This conversation between John and Matthew is intended as a thoughtful and informative discussion between two practitioners who, in different ways, are not only looking at new methods of collaboration, but are each exploring the ways in which contemporary artistic thought might converge with architectural practice. Guided by the insightful approach of Erica, Director of the University of South Australia’s Samstag Museum of Art, this talk is a dive into the experience of architecture from an artistic perspective.
This event is presented in collaboration with Melbourne Design Week.
