Mar 21, 2020 18:15 - 19:45
Sound design enthusiasts will love this event as part of Melbourne Design Week. Join local and international academics, artists and designers to both generate an ambiance inside MPavilion and discuss recent research and practice regarding ambiance and atmospheres.
Ambiance design creates small, localised environments that provide sites of restoration and experiential difference from the everyday noises and hubbub of the city. The event will include a curated set of conversations running concurrently with an in-situ installation. Hear a keynote talk from sound-artist Marie Hojlund (Aarhus University, Denmark) and Shanti Sumartojo (MADA), on the meaning of ambiance in a design and architecture context. This will be followed by a live ambiance installation and panel including Jordan Lacey, Philip Samartzis, Polly Stanton and Malte Wagenfeld. This event is funded and curated by Jordan Lacey (DECRA Fellow, School of Art / School of Design, RMIT University).
This event is presented in collaboration with Melbourne Design Week.
